Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for Acute Medicine

Are you an experienced Physiotherapist looking to develop clinical and leadership skills within Acute Medicine?
An exciting opportunity has become available in the Specialist Medicine Therapy Team. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated individual to fulfil this newly created role.
You will take the lead clinical role across the Acute Medicine wards at Royal Derby Hospital, coordinating, supervising and developing the team. You will have a lead role in service development through project and audit work.
You will work alongside the Operational Team Lead, Lead Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist as well as the Respiratory Clinical Specialist. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside existing B7 and Senior Physiotherapists in Elderly and General Medicine across Derby and Burton to facilitate best practice and share learning opportunities.
You will have the opportunity to make a difference to a varied caseload of patients and you will be instrumental in influencing length of stay and flow through the hospital.
It is vital you are able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and experience in the management of these patients throughout the inpatient pathway.
You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills and be willing to work flexibly.
Main duties of the job
1. To demonstrate expert knowledge, advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking and analysis skills in the treatment of acute medical patients.
2. Manage a clinical case load across the Acute Medicine wards.
3. Take a lead on and have an overview of complex, acute medical patients across all specialities including Renal, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and General Medicine and have an excellent relationship with the MDT.
4. To take a lead role in the development of the therapy service, supporting research, audits and up to date evidenced based practice across all specialities.
5. Lead on projects across Medicine ensuring the delivery and ongoing development of a high quality patient focussed service.
6. Demonstrate clinical and professional leadership experience, a passion for the service and the ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.

Person Specification
Training/ Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent in PT.
* Evidence of CPD/development in clinical skills relevant to post.
* Accredited Clinical Educator.
* Postgraduate training or development in leadership skills.
* Member of Specialist Interest Group related to Specialist Medicine.
Experience
* Experience of leadership within a team.
* Experience of staff and student supervision and teaching.
* Previous relevant employment in NHS within acute setting.
* Experience of initiating, carrying out & evaluating service improvement & audit.
* Experience of delegation and prioritisation.
* Experience of complex discharge planning.
* Experience working with OT.
* Postgraduate experience spanning acute and community settings.
* Managing complaints and concerns.
Skills/ knowledge
* Ability to lead and coordinate a team.
* Ability to reflect & critically appraise own performance.
* Have an advanced level of clinical skills related to Acute Medicine.
* Experience of working within MDT.
* Advanced level of communication skills with staff, relatives and patients.
* Able to work under pressure.
