About the Opportunity We’re looking for an enthusiastic HR Assistant to join our superstar HR Shared Services Team on a permanent basis. If you are looking for your first role in HR, or maybe to expand your knowledge, we might have the ideal development opportunity for you. As an HR Assistant, you will provide HR Administrative support to all James Fisher Divisions, ensuring that all HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle are completed in an effective and timely manner. This role is vital for the entire HR function, allowing the Divisional HR Team to function effectively, whilst supporting the company’s goals and employee needs. The role will be based in our Bamber Bridge office (1-2 days per week) and we offer hybrid working. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR databases; handle confidential information with discretion. Manage routine HR correspondence and queries via the HR shared service ticketing system. Prepare employment contracts and facilitate onboarding, including induction sessions and probation processes. Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate processing of enrollments and changes. Collaborate with payroll team for timely and accurate payroll data completion. Update and maintain employee data in the HRIS; generate required reports and support Learning and Development administration. Ensure HR documentation compliance with laws and regulations; maintain and audit HR documents on the company intranet. Respond to HR policy and procedure inquiries; assist in employee engagement activities and HR projects. Who are we looking for? Practical understanding and experience of key HR processes and practices. Excellent communication and influencing skills. Innovative and creative ‘can do’ attitude and approach. Ability to manage and prioritise a high volume of work. Strong IT skills for communication and documentation (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). HR qualification, or willingness to work towards (desirable but not essential). Ability to work autonomously and take the initiative. Works collaboratively with others to achieve excellence.
