Key Responsibilities
* Designing and maintaining MES solutions according to set standards and processes in multiple IT systems.
* Acting as a technical advisor to the business wherever possible and/or required.
* Applying corporate and departmental standards, policies (testing, validation, change control, disaster recovery and incident/problem management) and rules.
* Ensuring that the MES team delivers high quality, fit-for-purpose, reusable, and maintainable solutions according to specified requirements.
* Obtaining knowledge of plant processes and/or business processes in areas of responsibility.
* Reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for ArcelorMittal South Africa.
* Managing business change requests (order book management).
* Identifying where and how processes/activities can be transformed and/or automated to create business efficiencies.
* Modelling processes to visually articulate tasks and activities.
* Leading problem solving, developing opportunities for businesses & convincingly presenting recommendations.
* Participating in acquisition and implementation of MES projects including identification of opportunities and technical architecture acquisition.
* Responsible for integration and acceptance testing.
* Responsible for after implementation monitoring and support.
* Managing and leading the Business Analyst team.
* Providing after hour support as required.
Qualifications
* B-Degree (NQF 8/10) in Computer Science, Technology, Information Science or B-Eng. Degree (NQF 8/10) in Industrial Engineering.
Experience and Requirements
* Minimum 6 years’ relevant experience and working knowledge as a Business Analyst in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) development and support environments.
* Strong MES systems and plant knowledge.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing business processes.
* Thorough understanding of system integration and inter-system communication.
* Knowledge of ITIL for systems and processes.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate in a structured, precise, and compelling manner.
* Ability to read, interpret and create technical IT documents such as flow charts and functional specifications.
* Exposure to Agile System Development and Project Management processes.
* Ability to scope projects and compile development specifications according to defined requirements.
* Ability to determine system requirements and compile process flows and data diagrams.
* Ability to understand, write and interpret SQL queries.
* Experience in identifying what can be standardized, consolidated, or removed across multiple processes and activities.
* Experience in defining and managing acceptance tests.
* Experience in collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to identify strategic goals and outcomes.
* Experience in implementing identified improvements iteratively and collaboratively with stakeholders.
* Experience in identifying bottlenecks, delays, manual overhead, and root causes of inefficiencies.
* Expert in data gathering and business analysis.
* Experience in managing a team of Business Analysts.
* Strong understanding of AMSA manufacturing business processes.
* Excellent understanding of and experience with steel manufacturing IT systems, their components and interfaces.
* Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
