Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, Peer Support Workers will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. The role will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of personally valued roles and connection to local communities. Individual roles may target specific age groups for example young people or older people whilst other roles may work across an age range. Please note that possessing a UK driving licence and means to drive is an essential requirement for this role, any applicants without a driving licence and car will not be considered. Main duties of the job The Peer Support Worker within the Team will hold a caseload of the more stable, lower risk patients, using their own lived experiences to support the people they work with. The work may include individual pieces of work, such as putting together a recovery plan, supporting with completion of paperwork, or longer-term support in relation to social isolation, including accessing support or activities within the local community, supporting with appointments for their physical/mental health. They may also support other clinical team members to facilitate groups. In addition to Establishing supportive, positive and respectful relationships with all people you come in contact with. Providingpeer support, maintaining professional boundaries. Helping people identify recovery goals themselves. Supporting service users to identify and overcome fears within a relationship of empathy and trust. Undertakingappropriate administrative duties for delivering effective and timely care, including updating patient records.
