Assistant Headteacher - Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator
The Trust is looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated SENCo and invites applications from professionals with vision and ambition to inspire and lead on the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate to be responsible for day-to-day implementation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability. We are looking for someone who puts students first, proactively focuses on the development, sharing and monitoring of best practice to help across the school.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent, inspiring class teacher with a proven track record of strong student progress, and with a passion and drive to make a difference with our vulnerable students. They will be a qualified SENCo (or working towards the qualification) experienced in areas of training and process, in working with JCQ Exams Access procedures and have sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
The role involves maintaining an accurate SEND register and provision map, as well as providing guidance to colleagues on teaching pupils with SEND.
The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for external agencies, and organisational skills are key as there will be a need to ensure records are maintained and kept up to date. They will be actively encouraged and supported to engage with high quality CPD as part of this role.
