Job Purpose
* We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Controller Trade Effluent (RCTE) available. This role focuses on the control and monitoring of trade effluent discharges to sewers and to provide data for recovering wholesale costs for the treatment of trade effluent discharges into Wastewater Treatment Works.
* You will work as a member of a local team, reporting to the Lead RCTE for that area and will have a dedicated group of non-household customers under your control. You may also be required to assist in other areas.
Job Accountabilities
* You will be responsible for the control of trade effluent to protect H&S, wastewater treatment works, network compliance and to protect the company's assets. You will also be responsible for:
* Liaising with retailers on behalf of Non-Household Customers via JIRA case management system to meet SLA's for trade effluent related queries, applications, and sample notifications.
* Samples and meter readings for control and monitoring will be obtained to a pre-determined schedule as set out in Trade Effluent Policy procedures. Control is achieved through a process of deriving consents that provide adequate protection.
* Walking the trade process, discussing with the customer and progressing the risk assessment and paperwork for the production of the consent.
* Liaising with non-household customers to gather information on business direction that may lead to potential changes in load contributions.
* Identifying illegal discharges to sewer and take corrective action to ensure Company and Statutory standards are met.
* Reading water meters/trade effluent meters for the measurement of volume to check trade effluent meters and water meters and audit their performance, accuracy and reliability so that UU wholesale costs are recovered and protected.
* Visiting non-household customers, obtain and assess supporting information for new consents and undertake reviews of existing consents.
* Monitoring trade effluent discharge analysis results including carrying out site tests to ensure compliance against consents in line with Trade Effluent policy guidelines.
* Gathering and providing evidence to support recommended legal action where a breach of the regulations could have/has had an adverse effect on UU, its assets and the environment.
* Discussing with non-household customers matters relating to trade effluent in order to comply with consent parameters.
* Discussing and resolve queries with retailers in respect to the volume calculations and strength of trade effluent.
* Investigating and report on incidents and spillages to the highway and sewerage system.
* Providing relevant data on trade effluent for UU projects.
* Providing out of hours support regarding the management of incidents relating to trade effluent discharges.
