Design Manager – Oak
Uxbridge
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join the team at Galliford Try within our Oak Business.
Ideally, you will based in or around the Uxbridge area.
What you will be doing:
1. Main Contractor Design manager who has experience delivering high rise Buildings.
2. Management of planning, BCO, NHBC, BSR and other required approvals. Identify critical timeframes and manage the discharge process.
3. Review consultant and contractor design outputs. Co-ordinate outputs of all designers to identify and rectify gaps, clashes and inconsistencies and manage design approvals process.
4. Interface and collaboration with internal Façade design dept to manage design expectations and alignment with delivery programme.
5. Provide construction-conscious direction and instruction to consultant team during the different RIBA stages. Review emerging design to optimise design minimising complex details and interfaces involving multiple trades. Work closely with Operations team and alert to any emerging buildability issues.
6. Lead in establishing the design programme and information release schedule by reference to master construction programme. Manage design team to ensure adherence to same.
7. Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple projects at differing RIBA stages simultaneously.
8. Develop & compile documentation for inclusion within the contractor’s proposals.
9. Obtain and assess the fee proposals to develop and manage a robust project Fee Schedule for inclusion in the tender submission and approve and manage fees through the duration of the project.
10. Ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with ERs, CP’s & Statutory requirements and all parties are aware of their obligations under statute.
11. Respond to site queries and manage incoming and outgoing RFIs / TQs.
About You:
12. Significant experience of working as a Design Manager on a variety of routine and complex projects.
13. Fire remediation experience would be preferable but not essential for this role
14. BSR application and management would be an advantage.
15. Experience of line management
16. Experience of leading and managing a Design team.
17. Degree in Architecture/Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
18. Office expertise.
19. Viewpoint for Projects experience essential.
20. Field view experience is essential.
21. Excellent communication skills
