Pastoral Support Assistant

Salary: FTE Salary: £24,027 - £25,183 per annum, Pro rata salary: £10,556 - £11,074 per annum
Hours: 19.5 hours per week, Fixed term, Term time only
The Primary School is a member of the Education Trust, an expanding multi-academy trust with 11 primary and 9 secondary schools.
The Role
The Primary School requires a strong assistant who has pastoral experience working with children and/or young adults to become their Pastoral Support Assistant. The role involves working with parents, addressing pupils' behavioural and attendance issues, and providing pastoral support within the school's networks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide confidential administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team regarding behaviour and safeguarding investigations and related meetings.
2. Proactively support efforts to improve student behaviour and share good pastoral practices with colleagues.
3. Ensure paperwork is maintained and accurately recorded in appropriate files.
4. Provide reports and management information for internal and external audiences.
5. Organise and represent the school at meetings with outside agencies.
6. Serve as a focal point for external agencies, parents, and other stakeholders, coordinating information and outcomes related to individual cases.
7. Attend and contribute to pastoral team meetings as appropriate.
8. Provide pastoral support to vulnerable students when required.
9. Manage behaviour issues that arise during the day, taking student statements and contacting parents as necessary.
10. Participate in the school programme of Performance Management and Continuing Professional Development.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
1. Proven experience and success working with children and/or young adults in a pastoral setting.
2. Patience, tolerance, and sensitivity with a mature and non-judgemental outlook.
3. Ability to work with initiative and meet deadlines.
4. Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organisational skills.
5. Ability to work under pressure.
6. Strong administrative skills, including a high level of competence with Microsoft Office.
7. Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully.
8. Ability to maintain positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
9. Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and resilient in managing daily responsibilities.
10. Strong planning and organisational skills.
11. Willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions.
12. Ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
Desirable Criteria:
1. A sound knowledge of equality, diversity, and inclusion issues.
2. Previous experience in a pastoral support role.
