This role requires a Pastoral Support Assistant who is comfortable removing students from classes and helping them to reengage with education.
Job Role:
1. Supporting the emotional and social development of students with SEMH needs.
2. Providing 1-2-1 and group mentoring sessions to help students overcome challenges.
3. Encouraging positive behaviours and helping students regulate their emotions.
4. Acting as a role model and building trusting relationships with students.
5. Supporting teachers and other staff in managing classroom behaviours.
6. Working with parents, carers, and external agencies to support students’ well-being and progress.
7. Supporting whole-school initiatives such as reward schemes, assemblies, and interventions.

Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with young people, ideally within an SEMH, pastoral, or mentoring role.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
3. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with complex needs.
4. Good understanding of safeguarding policies and practices.
5. A valid DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
