Lead Commissioning Engineer (Wormington)

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead the on-site planning and execution of the project commissioning team.
2. Support the Project Commissioning Lead in all aspects of technical delivery and scope management.
3. Assist in developing the project delivery strategy and planning for each Work Pack/System.
4. Assist the completions engineer in setting system limit boundaries for work packs.
5. Provide technical and engineering support for SCADA, control & protection, ESD, F&G, Telemetry, and UPS systems.
6. Manage project documentation to meet client management procedures (T/PM/G/35).
7. Lead technical and quality requirements on the project.
8. Perform skilled commissioning tests on electrical, instrumentation, and control apparatus, developing procedures with other engineers.
9. Conduct commissioning activities on control circuits, level, flow, temperature, and pressure control devices.
10. Validate fire & gas systems and devices, including cause & effects charts and interfaces.
11. Interpret vendor documentation, project drawings, schematics, and manuals.
12. Analyze work problems and implement corrections to facilitate system completion.
13. Allocate tasks to the commissioning team and monitor progress.
14. Establish positive relationships with the project team and client.
15. Follow all safe systems of work and ensure project quality standards.
16. Identify project opportunities and variations.
17. Support risk and issue management within the project.
18. Coordinate with vendors for commissioning activities.
19. Lead by example in health and safety practices.
Function
The Lead Commissioning Engineer is expected to:
1. Manage site surveys.
2. Conduct toolbox talks.
3. Develop testing and commissioning methodologies.
4. Create site work documentation, including risk assessments and method statements.
5. Supervise system testing, CFAT, SAT, and calibration activities.
6. Manage observations, variations, and reworks.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Deep knowledge of EC&I and Automation, with a broad understanding of other disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Process).
2. Familiarity with Gas Transmission and Distribution standards, especially for compressor stations.
3. Understanding of British and European standards.
4. Technical experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control fields.
5. Experience supervising electrical/instrument technicians.
6. Experience with Hub2 completions management system.
7. Over 5 years of experience as a Commissioning Engineer in multi-discipline projects within the Gas sector, in engineering/EPCM/EPC companies.
