The Head of Computing at King Edward’s School will lead and inspire an outstanding team of staff and pupils in one of the country’s most academic day schools. Working closely with the Deputy Head (Academic) the Head of Computing will ensure that an outstanding education and overall learning experience is delivered consistently. The Head of Computing will lead the delivery of Computing curriculum from Shells through to A Level.
The appointed person will be the strategic leader of all aspects of Computing. Capable of operating at a high level, s/he will be expected to deliver a vision to strengthen the existing curriculum and also to identify opportunities to enhance and build on our provision – and for different types of positive outcomes: the combination of excellence and strong participation. The Head of Computing will possess advanced technical skills and knowledge, including expertise in programming languages commonly taught at A Level, such as Python, Java, C# and SQL, and detailed awareness of current trends in computing, including artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud computing.
The Head of Computing will provide the vision and oversight for the Computing curriculum across the school. S/he will be the manager of all staff involved in the delivery of Computing. This will involve working closely with colleagues to support the overall strategy and its development.
The Head of Computing will control the budget for the Computing curriculum and will maintain oversight to ensure that the work of the department is aligned with the school’s strategic goals.
This is an exciting time for the school as we build on the curriculum by introducing Computing GCSE and A Level Computing from September 2025. The resources in school include two designated Computer rooms and technical support is provided by the Network Manager and IT Technician.
