The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We are driving fast paced, transformational change that is allowing us to save more lives in new and innovative ways. Our Lifeboat crews and Lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them so whatever the weather they can operate to the highest standards and save lives at sea.Behind the scenes is a complex infrastructure and support service that enables us to run a 24/7 lifesaving service consisting of 238 Lifeboat stations, lifeguard services, water safety education programmes, and fundraising across the UK and Ireland.
We are recruiting a Programme Manager to oversee a programme of work to roll out a new coastal lifeboat, which will provide a bridge between our current inshore and offshore lifeboat fleets. The programme will be tasked with acquiring and rolling out the whole capability, including training, engineering support and improved connectivity. It will have a modern, technology-enhanced search and rescue capability that will enable us to find and save even more lives.
We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead all aspects of delivering the programme combining leadership and project management skills to drive progress and deliver within agreed parameters to time, cost and quality, ensuring the outcomes support the achievement of the RNLI’s vision.
Your Role
As Programme Manager you will be accountable for:
* Owning major risks through early identification, management and subsequent resolution.
* Defining scope and planning delivery of the programme, managing dependencies across all projects within the programme.
* Owning the programme’s business case from development through to realisation
* Defining and tracking the programme’s benefits, ensuring that they are agreed, owned and realised
* Leading the organisation through the resulting strategic change covering all aspects of business, process and technology change.
* Engaging and managing stakeholders, developing strategies for effective engagement and maintaining strong relationships by communicating regularly.
* Maintaining strong and effective governance throughout the lifecycle of the programme.
About You
As our Programme Manager, you will use your excellent planning and communication skills to work with programme team members and stakeholders at all levels, to define and deliver a quality outcome for the organisation.
To be considered you will need:
* Programme Management qualification such as Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
* Project certification e.g. Prince2, APM.
* Significant practical experience delivering a number of large cross function organisational programmes.
* Significant Programme leadership skills and experience in driving cross organisation improvement and delivering results against clear and measurable targets and standards.
* Substantial experience of leading, managing, developing and/or motivating multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating across a variety of stakeholders
* Experience of change leadership and delivering programmes / projects across a diverse range of stakeholders
* Experience influencing and negotiating at the highest level.
* Substantial experiencing in managing performance against budgets, targets and objectives defined by programme and organisational strategies and policies.
