Job Description: The Structural Engineering team is responsible for the submarine structural design including its response to static and shock loading. The group have design technical authority for all primary structures but also offer stress and design analysis service to other platform systems teams mechanical and propulsion etc who require substantiation of system components and assemblies. This includes pipe stressing and analysis of other componenets in piping systems. The primary task involves Fatigue and Fracture assessment on critical pipework and pipeline components using defect tolerance procedures of BS7910. Consideration of other failure modes such as erosion and corrosion is also required. The Individual: Qualifications: Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant Science discipline Ability to communicate effectively at all levels through oral and written briefings and technical reports Experience: Expert experience of fatigue and fracture assessment and \\\'Fitness for Purpose\\\' procedures is required. Experience with BS7910 and \\\'Crackwise\\\' software will be ideal but experience of R6 and R - Code would be sufficient in lieu Familiarity with ASME Power Piping code B31.1 or ASME III NB/NC would also be advantageous It is not a requirement but experience of finite element analysis procedures for crack and fatigue modelling would be an advantage should the Safety Justification process drive such explicit analysis on certain components. The group use ABAQUS for FEA work
