Creative Support is a non-profit provider of personalised care and support to people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism spectrum conditions, and older people. We are recruiting a Support Coordinator for our Mental Health Youth Service in Eastgarth.
We are looking for a Support Coordinator who is experienced in working with people who have mental health support needs.
We are looking for a calm, resourceful and energetic individual who is well motivated, hardworking and keen to join our team. The service consists of 7 self-contained flats within Newcastle. The service is part of Newcastle’s strategy to provide a wider range of living options for vulnerable people. The service supports people to increase their independence and connect with their communities/ develop social networks thus preventing admission into long term residential care or hospital and eventually moving back to their own homes or in a less supported environment. Your role will include:
1. Providing person-centred support to tenants to take part in all aspects of everyday life and achieve their outcomes and goals
2. You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support.
3. You will have the maturity to be able to work within a positive behaviour support framework to accept responsibility and to grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner supporting people who are vulnerable and may engage in risky behaviours.
4. Collaborating with service users, families, and involved professionals to provide a consistent and coordinated service that meets the needs of service users
5. Supporting and supervising staff and deploying staff resources effectively to meet the needs of the service
Experience of working with people with mental health needs is essential for this role. Managerial experience is desirable but not essential.
You will be expected to work flexibly on a rota to meet the needs of the service, including evenings and nights, weekends, sleep-ins and bank holidays.
