Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable young people with complex needs and behaviours, empowering them to overcome barriers to learning?
Fresh Start in Education are looking for experienced and person-centred SEN Learning Support Assistants, with a background in working with non-verbal students with autism and learning, communication and sensory needs.
This role involves delivering learning and engagement activities at early years levels, as well as providing communication, emotional and behavioural support. Knowledge of PECS or Makaton is desirable. You will be working alongside other professionals who will providing different aspects of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Working with your student, alongside support staff
* Each 15 hour placement involves planning and delivering a 3 hour session, 5 days per week, during term-times only
* Bank Staff worker – providing provisions as and when they arise, paid via PAYE
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working with vulnerable children or young people with additional needs (SEN, SEMH needs and other barriers to learning)
* Experience delivering or supporting numeracy, literacy and communication skills in creative, practical and engaging ways
* Knowledge of PECS or Makaton is desirable
* A commitment to keeping children and young people safe and a practical and up to date knowledge of safeguarding
