The Role
The purpose of the role is to provide Sofina Foods Malton with a professional 'best in class' technical management function and to lead the Technical & Hygiene teams and guide the Operational Team at site level, developing and delivering against set processes and practices, and helping to ensure that products are manufactured to meet the food safety and quality standards required both by law and by our customers through verification of standards.
Duties Include:
* Responsible for managing the Technical function to maintain and improve food safety standards.
* Reports to the Site Director with a dotted line to the Group Technical Director.
* Works closely with Production, Engineering, and other business disciplines.
* Builds strong relationships with customers and external agencies.
* Identifies opportunities and delivers solutions for continuous business improvement.
* Supports technical systems to facilitate operational changes and improvements.
* Aims to establish industry-leading technical standards.
* Provides senior mentorship for team development and site performance improvements.
* Ensures the site is always prepared for audits from customers and enforcement authorities.
* Implements monitoring and auditing systems to ensure compliance with legal, Karro, and customer requirements.
* Assesses and delivers product specifications and customer requirements through training and communication.
* Promotes a quality-focused culture within management and operations.
* Supports the Skills Management System by providing quality feedback to Operational line managers.
* Educates Functional Managers on international and customer standards.
* Runs development programs to enhance quality skills across the management team.
* Leads the Quality team in effective root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
* Drives site-wide communication to emphasize the importance of quality.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Solid experience with technical systems and standards and management within manufacturing.
* A Graduate of Food Science/Technology (or similar).
* Experience of working with Operations and Supply Chain Management, Logistic & Planning, Change Management, Project Management, Strategy development, Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement (TPM etc.).
* Direct experience of change management at a senior level.
* Strong track record of successful team management.
* Experience of managing key capital projects as part of daily role.
