As a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist, you will lead a team in delivering care in the inpatient ward. You will be part of well-resourced clinical teams, with ongoing input from colleagues and day on call cover, ensuring protection for the SPA sessions.

Main Duties of the Job
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, flexible, innovative, trustworthy, supportive, efficient, and inspirational Consultant with vast knowledge and experience in Old Age Psychiatry. Excellent communication and teaching skills, proven competence in formulation, establishing diagnoses, ability to influence comprehensive treatment plans, and working effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams are key attributes for success in this role.
You will have your own office space and will be supported by an experienced medical assistant. This is a substantive and full-time post; however, we are open to part-time or fixed-term applicants. Remote working options are also available.

Job Responsibilities
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
* Included on GMC Specialist Register (Old Age Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
* Approved Clinician Status
* Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
* Has undergone training in educational supervision
* Has undergone training in appraisal
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge in the field of Old Age Psychiatry
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy, and legislation
* An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Wide clinical experience in Old Age Psychiatry in different clinical settings
* Experience of Clinical Audit
* Experience in multiagency work, especially with service users, carers, and voluntary agencies
* Experience in service management or development
* Experience in remote consultations; interest and enthusiasm in developing tele-psychiatry
Skills
* High level of clinical skills
* Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Old Age Psychiatry
* Excellent teaching skills
* Demonstrate the ability to work in a time-efficient manner
* Established record of clinical leadership
* Established ability as a clinical teacher
* Training in specific and relevant treatment skills, e.g., a brief form of psychological therapy

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year pro rata for part-time.
