Occupational Health Nurse- £48K- Cornwall
Amber Mace are seeking a qualified Occupational Health Nurse to join our team and provide the full OH remit, including sound professional advice and guidance. You will work alongside HR, H&S, OH technicians, and line managers to help ensure our legal obligations are met and support holistic wellbeing at work. The role will include:
- Health surveillance for the workforce
- Providing occupational health advice and guidance based on legislative requirements and work experience
- Undertaking baselines and ongoing health surveillance
- Identifying early signs of possible (work-related) health issues and preventing escalation
- Sickness absence management
- Return to work assessments and management of phased returns where appropriate
- Working closely with individuals, line managers, and H&S to ensure legislation is accurately interpreted and addressed, and that chronic health conditions are managed to ensure all staff’s health and safety
- Being involved with staff committees and attending meetings relevant to the OH role
- Delivering Tool Box Talks
- Face fitting
- Organising clinics for the visiting OH Physician and referring individuals in a timely manner
- Signposting to specialist external resources
- Assisting with risk assessment and risk management activities
- Initiating and assisting with the implementation of health promotion initiatives working closely with external agencies
Skills and Experience required/desired:
- RGN Qualified with an OH qualification. Ideally Part 3 registered. (Consideration may be given to experienced Nurse Practitioners keen to undertake the OH degree.)
- Proven nursing experience in an occupational health environment in a medium/large organisation
- Experience of conducting all usual routine health surveillance, particularly qualified to undertake HAVS (up to and including Tier III), Spirometry, and Audiometry
- Skilled report writing
- Ability to work autonomously and organise delivery of service with some admin support
- Up to date knowledge of legislation particularly relevant to OH
