An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified nurse to join our critical care team. Are you looking for a new challenge and a chance for more education?
We are a busy 10-bedded Critical Care unit providing patient-centred care at Level 2 and Level 3. St Richard's Critical Care provides a comfortable working environment for our staff and patient care is also enhanced by the use of modern Information Technology operating a ‘paperless’ approach to patient care using our Clinical Information System.
We have a strong commitment to education and training with an on-site Educator. Our nursing team offers a progressive and supportive environment to develop individuals by utilising in-house resources as well as strong links with the University of Brighton, Chichester and Surrey.
Main duties of the job
The registered nurse will work within the critical care team planning, monitoring, and evaluating care for level 2 and 3 patients and supporting their loved ones. They will follow a programme of competencies to gain knowledge and skills in this specialist area of nursing.
They will, as part of the wider team, support students who rotate into critical care.
Applicants must have NMC registration. Acute nursing experience in an NHS hospital ward setting is essential. Experience within a critical care area would be an advantage but not essential.

Qualifications
* Adult Critical Care Course
* 1st degree or willingness to undertake
* Teaching and Assessing course or equivalent
* ALS/ILS
* Aims course or equivalent
Knowledge and experience
* Previous experience of work in an acute NHS hospital setting
* Record of continuing professional development
* Evidence of knowledge of current issues in professional practice
* Previous experience within a Critical Care area
* Team leading experience
* Certificate for IV administration
* Knowledge of relevant research
Skills
* Computer literacy and keyboard skills
* Demonstrates good verbal and written skills
