Our client is a leading manufacturer providing solutions to businesses across the UK and overseas. They're leaders in innovation, and design concepts through to completion all on one site.
As a Factory Manager, you will be responsible for the entire plant assembly from working with raw material planning to assembly/production, testing and quality. You will identify and implement improvements in working practices and utilise modern manufacturing techniques. You will play an active part in all weekly meetings and provide key information for the directors.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of managing factory operations. You will drive the development of line leaders whilst identifying improvements to production methods. Therefore, any experience implementing Lean, SPC, Six Sigma, Kaizen or similar is a distinct advantage.
What's involved for the Factory Manager…
* Continued development of Line Leaders
* Improve the quality of production staff through training and or recruitment
* Manage overtime and recruitment of temp workers
* Review current staff levels and shifts patterns
* Oversee the production/assembly, testing and quality departments
* Management of 40 operatives plus 2 line leaders and 1 engineer
* Formulate and implement a formal staff training programme for all key areas of production
* Monitor/control labour costs in line with the budgetary limits
* Identify and implement improvements to current production methods
* Monitor/control expenses in line with budgets
* Ensure that production targets are continuously achieved
* Reduce wastage
* Ensure that the staff are managed appropriately giving regard to motivation, staff welfare, training, guidance and encouragement
* Ensure that the plant layout and support system are producing to full capacity
What you'll need…
* Factory management within manufacturing is a MUST
* Experience in managing line leaders or team leaders
* Experience within an assembly production environment is a distinct advantage but not essential
* Experience in implementing continuous improvement or lean such as Kanban, SIX SIGMA, KAIZAN, 5s etc.
* Strong management / people development skills
* In depth knowledge manufacturing processes
* Ability to implement continuous improvement techniques
