Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. Our product portfolio includes Freestyle Libre, a recently launched system that is revolutionising how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We currently have an opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team based
in Witney, Oxfordshire. In this role, you will join the Global Sourcing & Procurement team and in particular the team that manages the Third Party Manufacturing sites that produce the
Freestyle Libre Product.
You will be required to provide support and expertise for user departments with their procurement requirements. Manage the procurement process for goods and services including:
1. Analysis and evaluation of supplier bids, tenders, proposals, or quotations for indirect materials or services.
2. The creation and conversion of purchase requisitions into purchase orders in SAP.
3. Ensure integrity of master data and purchasing parameters in SAP.
4. Communicate status of orders with internal customers.
5. Ensure timely reconciliation of invoices for payment.
6. Support resolution of any issues related to Purchase orders or invoices.
7. Develop relationships with key/strategic stakeholders and internal users to improve product/service availability.
In addition, the role will also require you to be part of a cross functional team to support the completion and implementation of changes required at the Third Party manufacturing sites that manufacture the Freestyle Libre Product. This requires the tracking, approval, communication as well as defining the strategy to implement these changes to ensure continuity in the manufacturing processes.
To be successful in the role, you should be educated to degree level, ideally have exposure to a commercial environment, to be an effective and timely communicator. The role has an emphasis on data and technology, so it is expected that the candidate be PC proficient to a good level, the use of Excel, Power BI, Powerpoint will be required. A Good knowledge of SAP would also be preferred but not essential as training will be provided if required.
We're looking for someone who is ambitious, highly organised, numerate, accurate, and excited about joining a team at the forefront of Diabetes Care innovation. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a local team, but interact on a wider business scale. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will also be happy with travelling for business needs, some of which will require nights away from home.
