JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for the operational management of asbestos removal contracts, including health, safety, quality, and financial performance, preparation of tenders, and implementation of company policies and procedures. Preparation of site-specific HSE ASB5 Notifications, Plans of work, and risk assessments. Ensuring all work carried out complies with Control of Asbestos Regulations and all other regulatory asbestos legislation.
Main Duties
1. Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of operational processes and procedures of the business.
2. Ensure the business complies with all statutory legislation and regulations attributed to the business operations and internal procedures.
3. Uphold all requirements relating to the Companies Asbestos removal license to ensure ongoing and future accreditation.
4. Carry out site assessments, collecting information for the formation of plans of works and risk assessments.
5. Coordinate, monitor, and manage asbestos removal activities to the highest standards.
6. Plan staffing levels, recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
7. Ensure that the Removal Supervisor and operatives' duties and responsibilities are fulfilled and that all operational and legislative responsibilities undertaken by the site teams are met as per current legislation.
8. Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that all procedures and policies are upheld in accordance with the Company and statutory requirements.
9. Identify, record, review, and maintain training requirements for all staff, including H&S, in accordance with company procedures.
10. Establish, maintain, and develop effective professional working relationships with clients, staff, and other key stakeholders.
11. Assist in the formulation of business development strategies with the Environmental Services Lead and implement these as instructed.
12. Produce pre-site specific assessments, plans of work, risk assessments, and ASB5 notification forms to the current industry standard required prior to any asbestos removal operations taking place.
13. Work with the Senior Contracts Manager to program asbestos removal workload for the region and identify required labour, supervisory resources, plant, and materials to ensure all contracts are resourced to optimum levels for the company and productivity is consistently maintained at a high level.
14. Immediately escalate to the Senior Contracts Manager any issues that arise associated with the day-to-day operational performance and compliance of the business.
15. Assist the Senior Contracts Manager in ensuring that all procedures and policies are upheld in accordance with the Company and statutory requirements as well as being involved in its formation.
16. Identify possible areas of business development to the Senior Contracts Manager and provide any necessary support.
17. Identify training requirements for removals supervisory and operative workforce staff. Communicate and consult with the workforce delivering training and toolbox talks as required.
18. Carry out at least one audit per month in line with current MES procedures. Complete any allocated corrective/preventive business actions to a satisfactory standard and in the required timescale.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential: BOHS P402 or RSPH equivalent. Hands-on experience carrying out asbestos surveys on a mixed portfolio of sites. Experience from a UKAS accredited Asbestos Consultancy. In-depth knowledge of HSG 264 guidelines. Able to use TEAMS/TRACKER systems.
The Role
1. Management, refurbishment, demolition, and re-inspection surveys.
2. Carrying out sampling of ACMs.
3. Correctly bagging and labeling samples and ensuring they are sent to the laboratory for analysis.
4. Working in line with HSG 264 guidelines.
5. Liaising with clients, providing excellent consultancy advice and support.
6. Producing comprehensive reports for clients using industry-relevant systems.
