Ellens Glen House is a 60-bed community hospital set in a beautiful grounds with free car parking and easy access for public transport.
As a Chef at Sodexo in Ellens Glen House, EH16 6FF, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards. What you’ll do:
* Quality of Food and Service
o Ensure food preparation, production, and presentation meet Sodexo’s standards.
o Source purchases from Sodexo’s nominated suppliers.
o Comply with Quality Assurance Audit requirements.
o Monitor service quality by 'walking the floor' during service periods.
* Hygiene, Health, and Safety
o Adhere to company policies, site rules, and statutory regulations on Health & Safety, hygiene, and fire safety.
o Ensure all equipment is safe, regularly checked, and serviced; report faults and ensure non-use until repaired.
o Maintain the safety and security of all equipment, monies, and premises at all times.
* Personnel and Training
o Motivate staff, promote good relations, and adhere to Company procedures and Investors in People standards.
o Ensure staff project a positive and professional image.
o Follow Unit Personnel Manual and HR guidelines.
o Participate in annual appraisals and take responsibility for personal training and development.
o Attend company training courses and meetings as required.
* General Responsibilities
o Ensure site standards align with Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.
o Deliver meals and services on time and to the required standards.
o Ensure staff comply with policies and procedures.
o Secure Company and Client property and assets.
o Build and maintain excellent client relationships.
o Promote continuous improvement through company promotions and merchandising initiatives.
o Ensure written communications reflect a professional image.
o Identify opportunities for business growth within the contract and externally.
o Maximise profitable sales through food service brands.
o Address customer compliments and resolve complaints effectively, escalating when necessary.
o Handle incidents, accidents, or irregularities, including fire, theft, or food safety issues.
o Follow all instructions from line management within deadlines.
o Adhere to all Sodexo policies and client site rules.
o Perform additional tasks as directed by management
What you bring:
* NVQ Level 2 & City & Guilds 706 I&II or equivalent at least 2 years plus working as a chef
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent culinary skills and a passion for cooking
* Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
