Job Summary
Applications are invited from our semi-skilled employees who are interested in developing their skills, increasing their earnings potential and reaching Level 3 skilled status; by undertaking an NVQ2 qualification in Aeronautical Engineering to ultimately become Assembly Operators.
These roles will support the assembly manufacturing process through completing basic assembly tasks (such as for example: opening up holes, simple countersinking, anchor nut hole drilling) currently carried out by existing fully skilled fitters. This will allow more time for skilled fitters to focus on the core elements of their roles.
This is an in-house training programme. Progress will be monitored by the Isle of Wight College, your manager and the Operations Training & Development Manager. The duration of the programme will be between 18 – 24 months. Trainees will be observed in the workplace by an assessor in order for them to demonstrate their competence against the Level 2 performance criteria. Trainees will be required to build and maintain a portfolio of work.
Job Qualifications
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in GKN operational manufacturing role.
* Trainees will be required to undertake and successfully complete NVQ2 in Aeronautical Engineering within 18 months of entering role.
* Good level of literacy and numeracy.
* Candidates must have the ability to satisfy the company through interview, that they will be able to undertake all of the requirements of the NVQ programme.
Following successful completion of the NVQ2, trainees will become Level 3 Skilled Assembly Operators.
We’ll offer you fantastic challenges and amazing opportunities. This is your chance to be part of an organisation that has proven itself to be at the cutting edge of our industry; and is committed to pushing the boundaries even further. And with some of the best training on offer in the industry, who knows how far you can go?
