About The Role
As a QA Engineer, you will be required to assist the Quality Assurance Manager in ensuring products and services meet established quality standards by analyzing and documenting processes throughout the development lifecycle, identifying defects early on, and collaborating with teams to implement improvements, ultimately aiming to prevent quality issues from occurring in the final product. You will maintain the highest standard through robust policies and procedures, working with all managers to ensure a Quality-focused culture that drives improved performance and customer satisfaction through day-to-day practices.
As the QA Engineer, you will be responsible for promoting the highest quality standards in the company. You will liaise and support other business units to ensure all work is performed in accordance with the provisions of the company’s Management System and standards.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Assist in maintaining all quality documentation in line with current requirements and incorporating quality information into the system to promote the highest standard of work and compliance with quality requirements.
2. Ensure the timely review and approval of all NCRs and document detailed root cause analysis, including trending data on defect types linked to projects/contracts on a weekly/monthly basis.
3. Ensure the timely review and approval of all Action Requests, ensuring root cause analysis is identified and effective.
4. Ensure the timely review and approval of all Bought Out items, endorsing certification as required.
5. Ensure robust corrective actions are identified and implemented in response to customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
6. Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager, prepare Department Quality Meetings. In the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, lead the Department Quality Meetings.
7. Promote the management of change process across the business and ensure it is correctly implemented as per company procedures.
8. Assist in ensuring both internal and external audits are completed effectively in line with the Company Management Systems accreditations standards and requirements, which may require travel to different sites from time to time.
9. Ensure the timely review and approval of all approved suppliers, performing supplier reviews as a team with the purchasing department and endorsing certification as required.
10. Ensure that quality system requirements are communicated effectively to all departments, including shop floor personnel.
11. Promote the importance of improving the cost of quality performance throughout the company.
12. Comply with internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures.
13. Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager, prepare and lead Management System Reviews in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, and be the point of contact for collecting all the information from each site.
Key Requirements:
1. Background in quality assurance or a senior quality role, ideally in a metals/machining environment.
2. Good understanding and experience of working with and auditing ISO 9001 and AS9100 systems (preferred).
3. Structured, disciplined, and self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative, as part of a team, or lead a team.
4. Flexible, proactive, and assertive approach with strong organizational and prioritization skills, able to perform within tight deadlines.
5. Good oral and written communication skills.
6. Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
