An exciting opportunity has arisen,and we are looking for a highly motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our everexpanding and hardworking surgery team.
The successful applicant will berequired to work independently, within the scope of their professionalboundaries, to assess and manage patients.
Main duties of the job
The HCA duties include venepuncture (phlebotomy), blood pressure management, administering IM injections, performing ECGs, wound dressings, removal of stitches/clips and health promotion. We actively invest in our workforce, and we are able to offer training for additional roles when required to meet service need.
About us
You will be joining our friendly dynamic team of 8 Doctors, approximately 9,200 patients, set in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons National Park). We are an EMIS Web practice with a full range of enhanced services.
Our high-performing team includes Nurses, HCA, Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Technicians. We also host on site a District Nursing team, Health Visitors and a Community Mental Health Nurse. You will also be supported by our excellent reception and admin team. We are a training practice for final year medical students.
Salary is negotiable and dependent on previous experience. We are able to offer membership of the NHS Pension Scheme.
The position is for part time (21 hours) but we are flexible for the right candidate.

Job responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities to beundertaken by members of the Practice Nursing team may include any or all ofthe items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time underthe direction of the Lead Practice Nurse, GP and/or Practice Manager, dependenton current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
Performing venepuncture to obtainblood samples, ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed aspossible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
Ensuring samples are stored inappropriate containers
Accurate, legible labelling of allsamples to confirm patient identity
Checking patient identificationagainst GP/Nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
Recording collection of blood samplein patient record in accordance with Practice procedure
Ensuring that samples are dispatchedto the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.

BP recording and reporting
Dressings of wounds under the directionand guidance from the Practice Nurse
Recording and actioning of patientswho DNA their appointment
Chaperoning duties
Vaccine/cold chain storage,monitoring and recording
Surgical equipment and vaccinere-stocking and stock rotation
Emergency equipment and medicationvaccine re-stocking and checking
Cleaning own consulting rooms includingmanaging clinical waste
Re-stocking consulting roomsincluding ordering of stock where appropriate
Preparing and maintainingenvironments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventionsincluding assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
Assisting in the assessment andsurveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinicalactivities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specificallyin relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of healthand well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection andcollation of data on needs related to health and well-being
Ensuring that anomalies are reportedto a senior member of staff
