Job Description:
Your new company
A successful and steadily expanding 10 Partner firm, our client has a really interesting client base, from A-list celebrities through to entrepreneurial SMEs. The firm has grown organically with an excellent mix of internal promotion to Partner and the occasional strategic lateral hire. Currently, Partners take individual internal management responsibilities but they are now ready to channel all these into a newly created Practice Manager function.
Your new role
This role is very roughly 50% financial management and 50% operations (the latter including some marketing & PR).
A full spec is available but in brief, the financial reporting side of the role encompasses:
* Owning, managing and improving all management reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Producing accurate MI and KPIs for various stakeholders across the firm.
* Overseeing costs and maintaining controls; providing suggestions for improving office savings.
* Monthly management packs including management accounts, staff productivity reports, new clients, debtors and creditors etc.
* Overall financial interpretation/read-in to projects and daily management life within the firm.
On the operational side, responsibilities are varied but include:
* Dealing with the Firm’s infrastructure and insurances.
* Line managing an Administration team to ensure that the day-to-day office and operations are effective (including Health & Safety procedures and compliance matters).
* Working with the outsourced IT function, ensuring the level of service is of a consistently high standard.
* Overseeing marketing and PR initiatives (e.g., being responsible for social media, website, LinkedIn etc.) and developing consistency in all the above in terms of brand awareness.
What you'll need to succeed
The firm is based in North London and the current working culture is 5 days a week in the office. Parking in the local area is available, but it would make sense for applicants to be already based in North London or within easy commuting distance of such.
* The ideal applicant will have existing managerial experience of Finance/Operations in a fee-earning/time-selling business, ideally a Partnership.
* While you don't need to be a qualified accountant to do this role, if you view your financial skills as being equivalent then that is around the right level.
* The kind of personality that is happy to challenge senior stakeholders occasionally, for example on matters like KPIs or lock-up.
What you'll get in return
* A busy, lively working culture.
* The chance to really make this role your own - no predecessor!
* Plenty of resources to enable you to do your job effectively.
