About the role.

We’re looking for a dynamic and driven leader to guide, support, and develop our manufacturing team, optimising performance and engagement to achieve excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment, and People.
As the Senior Leader on site during out-of-hours, you will make key decisions to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about driving results through collaborative leadership, this could be the perfect role for you!
What You’ll Do:
* Inspire Performance: Transform plant goals into actionable strategies, creating a culture of feedback, growth, and inclusivity.
* Lead & Support: Cultivate a collaborative, customer-focused, and values-driven team environment.
* Develop Talent: Implement succession plans, create learning opportunities, and build a strong, flexible team.
* Apply Fair Policies: Use sound judgment to manage policies consistently and proactively prevent escalation.
* Ensure Safety & Compliance: Uphold Health & Food Safety standards, ensuring full competence and compliance.
* Drive Production Performance: Leverage best practices to optimise efficiency and address potential issues swiftly.
* Make Smart Decisions: Collaborate across teams to improve operational efficiency and drive key actions.
* Optimise & Control Costs: Manage production expenses effectively while maintaining safety and quality.
* Understand Cost Drivers: Monitor key production variables, explain variances, and take proactive action.
* Deliver Quality: Adjust for raw material variations and production conditions to maintain product excellence.
* Champion Continuous Improvement: Use lean manufacturing tools to drive efficiency and innovation.
This role is all about leading with impact, making smart decisions, and creating a high-performing team.
What we’re looking for.
Essentials:
* People Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams with empathy and inclusivity.
* Results-Driven: A strong track record of delivering success and making an impact.
* Industry Know-How: Ideally A Levels, HNC, or equivalent industry experience (NVQ Level 5).
Desirable:
* Food Manufacturing Experience: Ideally within FMCG.
* Health & Safety Knowledge: Understanding of H&S requirements within FMCG.
* Lean & CI Expertise: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Experience in Managing Daily Improvement.
* Tech-Savvy: Strong PC skills, including proficiency in MS Office and SAP Manufacturing.
* Food Safety Knowledge: Advanced Food Hygiene or HACCP certification.
* Data & Analytics Skills: Comfortable analysing information to drive better decision-making.

Location.
You’ll be based at our Wombourne plant in Staffordshire. And together our small but perfectly formed team of over 110 colleagues produce our famous (and well loved) potato Smiles, hash browns as well as our pre-baked Jacket Spuds.
