Job Title: Test Engineer - Optics North Wales Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Test Engineer in Optical Systems to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in optics and proven experience in designing, executing, and analysing test plans and procedures for optical systems. As a Test Engineer - Optics, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our optical products and systems. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement detailed test plans for optical systems to ensure adherence to quality standards and product specifications. - Perform optical testing using a variety of instruments and methods, such as interferometers, spectrometers, and photometers. - Design and set up test benches and data acquisition systems to capture critical test data effectively. - Analyze test data, document findings, and make recommendations for improvements or corrective actions. - Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve complex optical system issues. - Validate and verify optical system performance through a range of environmental and stress testing. - Provide technical support and guidance for the production and assembly teams regarding optical components and system integration. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, new testing methodologies, and advances in optical technologies. - Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. - Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance departments, to ensure seamless product development and deployment. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electronics, or a related field. - Minimum of 3 years’ experience in optical testing or a similar role of a recent PhD candidate - Proficiency with test equipment and tools used in optics, such as optical power meters, light sources, and imaging systems. - Strong understanding of optical theory and optical components, including lenses, mirrors, and fiber optics. - Experience in data acquisition and analysis with the ability to interpret and present complex data clearly. - Familiarity with creating and maintaining technical documentation, including test plans, reports, and standard operating procedures. - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
