As a Secondary SEN PSD Teacher, you will be responsible for providing a stimulating and supportive learning environment for students with SEN. Your primary focus will be on developing students' personal, social, and emotional skills, helping them build confidence and resilience, and empowering them to achieve their full potential. You will deliver tailored lessons designed to engage and challenge students, fostering their growth both academically and socially.
Responsibilities of the Secondary SEN PSD Teacher:
* Design and deliver engaging PSD lessons to secondary students with a range of SEN, ensuring content is appropriate and accessible to all learners.
* Plan, prepare, and evaluate individual learning plans (ILPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and other teaching staff.
* Work with students to enhance their social and emotional skills, focusing on building resilience, communication, self-regulation, and interpersonal relationships.
* Assess students' progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents/guardians, adapting strategies to meet their evolving needs.
* Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring students feel supported and valued at all times.
* Foster and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for each student.
* Support students in managing behaviour challenges effectively, applying de-escalation techniques where necessary.
* Contribute to the development of the school's PSD curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of the students and supports their overall well-being.
* Promote inclusion, respect, and understanding among students, encouraging a positive and supportive school community.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and any incidents, following safeguarding and school policies.
Requirements of the Secondary SEN PSD Teacher:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a proven track record of teaching in secondary schools.
* Experience working with students with SEN, particularly in the area of personal, social, and emotional development.
* Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and the ability to adapt your teaching methods to support their needs.
* Passion for supporting students' personal growth and a deep commitment to fostering social and emotional development.
* Experience in using a variety of teaching strategies and tools to engage students and manage challenging behaviour.
* Knowledge of relevant SEN policies, including the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding procedures.
* A flexible and patient approach, with the ability to maintain a calm and positive attitude in challenging situations.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
