We are a small group of local residents and interested parties working in the district of Armley in West Leeds.
Our key aim is to improve the prosperity and diversity of Armley Town Street, making it an attractive place for the community to live, work, shop, and socialise.
Our overarching vision is to strategically bring together and support a wide range of people and organisations from the public, private, and third sectors to work together to improve Armley and overcome problems, both real and perceived, for the benefit of everyone.
We run a variety of local projects, including Bundles (affordable children's and baby clothing and equipment), Yum (our Food Pantry), Emergency Food Bank, Community Fridge, and a Baby Bank—all based in several small units right off Armley Town Street. We also host the annual Armley Festival and run a series of events and markets throughout the year.
In 2024, we were successful in our application to the National Lottery Community Fund to fund two main core positions in the Armley Action Team: a full-time Operations Director and a part-time Volunteer Coordinator. These positions will be the strategic anchor for this project, and the new Volunteer Coordinator will allow us to train up volunteers to run the project when the funding ends.
We are now seeking a full-time Operations Director to spearhead the organisation, initially funded for 2 years. This role will report to the Armley Action Team Board and will be responsible for all day-to-day operations, financial management, recruitment, and oversight of all staff.
