System Operations Technical Lead
Location: Belfast (Hybrid)
VANRATH is proud to be partnering with a leading energy infrastructure organisation on a strategic hire within their System Operations team. This is a key role focused on driving critical system change as we move toward a greener, decarbonised electricity network.
The Opportunity
This brand-new position will support system-wide operational readiness through a combination of power systems analysis, project development, stakeholder engagement and technical leadership. Working as part of a high-performing team, this individual will lead major operational programmes aligned to energy transition and security of supply goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead delivery of operational change projects and long-term system transformation initiatives
*
Conduct power systems modelling and techno-economic analysis to inform planning and decision-making
*
Coordinate cross-functional and external stakeholder input, including with industry bodies, networks, regulators, and generation providers
*
Drive continuous improvement in tools, policies, and procedures
*
Represent the team on compliance, audit, and incident response
What You'll Bring:
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent with 6+ years post-qualification experience
* Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and decarbonisation targets.
* Experience with power systems software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD, Plexos)Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex technical projects.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong analytical mindset with a problem-solving, solution-driven approach
Desirable:
* Experience in system operations or control room environments
* Familiarity with EMS, MMS, LSAT, or related operational systems
