The Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist provides functional and operational support to site operations, ensuring compliance with worker safety and environmental regulations related to air, water, and waste. This role focuses on improving EH&S quality systems and sustainability performance. The EH&S Specialist manages and delivers EH&S training, conducts performance reviews of EH&S data trends to identify risk reduction initiatives, and reports to the plant EH&S Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide EH&S support to site operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
2. Develop and deliver EH&S training programs.
3. Analyze EH&S data trends and identify risk reduction/avoidance initiatives.
4. Foster a health and safety culture change by identifying and addressing EH&S gaps.
5. Work effectively within a diverse team and build partnerships across functional business lines.
6. Communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical individuals.
7. Assist in driving and leading EH&S cultural improvements.
8. Interface and communicate with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA) during inspections and in written correspondence.
9. Manage and maintain EH&S compliance documentation and reporting.
Education and Experience degree in occupational health, safety science, safety engineering, or a related technical field.
10. 3-5 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.
11. Working knowledge of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security regulations.
12. Experience within a chemical manufacturing environment or petrochemical industry.
13. Environmental experience with hazardous waste rules for Large Quantity Generators, air rules related to Title V or Part 70 air permit reporting, and water rules related to NPDES reporting.
14. Professional certification ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM) desired.

22. Experience working in a union environment preferred.
23. ERP knowledge and experience are a plus.
Technical Knowledge:
24. Knowledge of Federal/State EPA and OSHA compliance requirements.
25. Ability to articulate complex regulatory requirements clearly and effectively.
26. Experience with regulatory agencies and handling on-site inspections.
