Due to the upcoming recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Night Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton in London.
HMP Brixton will be a Category B male prison from April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients' needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse, and early days in custody.
Hours
The site will offer a 24-hour service. Night Shifts will be 8pm to 8am. This position is full-time, and you’ll receive an annual salary of up to £53,134 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Responsibilities
As a Night Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
1. Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
2. Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
3. Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse-led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
4. Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
5. Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference, as defined throughout our bespoke Health in Justice competency framework.

Essential Qualifications
1. Evidence of Continued Professional Development
2. Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
3. A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
4. Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP, and national standards
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
