ABL Health will soon be launching a new Healthy Lifestyle service in Gloucestershire, commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council. This transformative service seeks to work collaboratively with communities to transform the lives of the local population. The service will support residents to help them lose weight, stop smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, get more active and improve their wellbeing - all embedded in sustainable behaviour change. The service will also deliver the 1001 days programme supporting families and young children and the Healthy Workplace award scheme.
You will be crucial in delivering our programmes of work to the local community - including weight management, smoking cessation, reducing alcohol consumption. You will work with this community to develop services that meet their needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering client-centred motivational change and supporting people to take up healthy lifestyles. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management, smoking cessation or similar and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver ABL Health's Healthy Lifestyles service, through one-to-ones, in the community, and through digital methods such as Zoom/Teams or phone appointments.
* Deliver evidence-based education around nutrition, physical activity and behavioural change as advised by ABL Health team and in line with ABL Health programme curriculums.
* Deliver programmes with a client-centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
* Support with delivery of 1001 day or workplace programme as required.
* Monitor client's progress through regular consultation and with the use of Microsoft Excel, identifying specific treatments for those not on track to achieve their goals.
* Work with clients and stakeholders to co-produce in-session materials.
* Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
* Contribute to and support ABL Health's social media pages.
* Contribute to training and support new staff and volunteers, and be a point of support for team members who are supporting people living with LTCs.
* Keep detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly.
* Have a thorough understanding of ABL Health policies and procedures.
* Engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working with Adults delivering group workshops in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
* Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one behaviour change.
* Experience of delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings.
* Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment).
* Experience working with hard to reach groups and tackling health inequalities.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people.
* Experience of building professional relationships.
* Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one specialist weight management, Smoking Cessation or similar interventions to children, young people and adults.
* Experience of planning and delivering appropriate health interventions specific to individual requirements.
* Experience of working with people with long-term conditions or cancer.
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with people.
* Excellent administration, record keeping and data collection skills.
* IT literate, preferably with experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Must have a high attention to detail.
* Pro-active approach and ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to manage stressful situations and cope in a fast-paced work environment.
* To cope with unpredictable work patterns and work well under pressure.
* To be able to work as part of a team and independently as required.
* Knowledge of safeguarding.
* Experience of delivering parenting programmes.
* Experience of contributing to the supervision of staff/ volunteers/ students.
* Experience of developing public health educational materials.
* An understanding of different social media platforms.
* An understanding of how social media can support positive behaviour change.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience.
* Degree in nutrition and/or eligible to be registered as an associate or full member of the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists/or degree in exercise, psychology, public health, health improvement or other health related field.
Job Specific Requirements
* The ability to travel independently across the organisational footprint.
* Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need including evening and weekend work as required.
* Must be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
* Requires full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
