JOB DESCRIPTION:
CORE PURPOSE To teach pupils across the full age and ability range present in the school in order to ensure the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and well-being, and bring life to the school motto of ‘Inspiring Learning’.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
1. To effectively teach National and School Curricula within the school’s Teaching and Learning Policy;
2. To engage teaching methods which bring life to the motto ‘Inspiring Learning’;
3. To provide a calm, friendly, and disciplined teaching environment with positive relationships;
4. To provide a stimulating learning environment of high expectation and constant challenge;
5. To plan interesting and creative lessons and activities to meet the individual needs of all students;
6. To consistently integrate AFL strategies across all platforms;
7. To set appropriate homework in line with school policy;
8. To make effective and efficient use of Teaching Assistants and class resources to drive the individual learning experience;
9. To know and support the personal development of each student with a firm understanding of complex learning needs and the importance of raising achievement among pupils;
10. To make effective and efficient use of data systems and SIMS to record pupil progress, behaviour and attainment;
11. To mark work, assess, record, track and report pupil progress, using available data;
12. To consistently and effectively monitor the progress of students and give clear and constructive written and oral feedback working in partnership with parents;
13. To set high expectations for students’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and positive, productive relationships;
14. To prioritise student wellbeing working collaboratively with all stakeholders;
15. To be a role model consistently demonstrating the school values;
16. To enthusiastically participate in the enrichment opportunities of the ‘Heads Challenge’ programme;
17. Develop effective links with the local community in order to extend subject activities, enhance teaching and develop the students’ wider understanding;
Education, Qualifications and Training:
18. Good honours degree in relevant subject
19. Qualified Teacher status
20. Relevant subject specific training and qualification certificates (as applicable)
21. Ability to teach an additional subject
22. Evidence of teaching across the ability range KS3 – KS5
23. Experience of curriculum innovation and development
24. Experience and understanding of a range of approaches to teaching and learning and of sustained raising of achievement
25. Experience of developing teaching and learning strategies to meet the needs of all students and their continuous improvement
26. Experienced with concept of independent learning and personalised learning
27. Experienced in the use of data to monitor and raise achievement
28. A record of outstanding teaching across the age and ability range
