Physical Health Nursing Assistant - Male Only (R&R of £3,025 pro rata)

Operate radio communications when required and be conversant with the hospital network procedure.
To competently perform venepuncture / ECGs within the Health Centre and at ward level as directed by the requesting clinicians.
Recruitment & Retention premia has been introduced to attract and retain staff working within the Secure Care Division in High, Medium and Low Secure Services, further supporting our "Grow Our Own Strategy". For our nursing assistants, this will be a premia of £3025 pro rata.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Secure Care physical health team, you will provide patient care across the areas detailed below:
* Ashworth Hospital - High Secure: Provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment & care for patients with mental illness assessed as presenting a grave & immediate danger to others.
* Rowan View - Medium Secure: Offers specialist Learning Disability & Mental Health services over 8 wards, focusing on relational security and individualized therapeutic care.
* Rathbone Hospital (Liverpool) and Hollins Park (Warrington) - Low Secure: Provides mental health rehabilitation for men and women, monitoring and managing risk while balancing therapy and security.
* Aspen Wood - Low Secure: A new 40 bed specialist learning disability unit providing care for those needing the lowest level of security.

Job responsibilities
* Provide support to the health centre and administration staff.
* Maintain up-to-date core skills, extended roles, and learning needs as identified via PDPs.
* Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
* Ensure the Department achieves the Core Search Standards and liaise directly with the Security Department when necessary.
* Undertake patient searches as per security procedures, reporting adverse circumstances to the nurse in charge.
* Escort patients from ward to clinical environments across all sites using radio communication equipment.
* Undertake full control and restraint training, managing situations using approved techniques or verbal de-escalation skills.
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills to convey factual information to patients.
* Work collaboratively, sharing knowledge and experience with peers to provide support through teamwork.
* Demonstrate appropriate skills to deal with patients with challenging behaviour.
* Be aware of patients' well-being, considering mental, physical, security, and potential violent issues, reporting concerns to the nurse in charge.
* Maintain responsibility for health and safety aspects of the environment for yourself and colleagues.
* Maintain quality control checks of all equipment within the health centre and across secure sites.
* Assist with the delivery of Health Promotion and support clinicians in various clinics.
* Work within the current policies and procedures throughout the hospital and Trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of studying for NVQ Level 3 in care or other relevant skills/academic based course or working towards this.
Knowledge/Experience
* Experience/knowledge of working within a high secure environment and mental health problems.
* Previous experience of phlebotomy, ECG recording, and administrative work.
* Smoking cessation trained.
Skills
* Ability to relate positively to people and to work within a changing and challenging environment.
* Ability to work well within a team.
* Willingness to maintain/develop skills and knowledge.

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 a year. Additional Recruitment and Retention premium will be offered.
