The role:
We’re looking for a Technical Product Director for a role that combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and customer-facing responsibilities. This role will form a bridge between the commercial and product teams and maintain a current understanding of our customer base and their needs.
Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:
Technical Leadership:
* Own technical aspects of feature and capability definition.
* Be an expert on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices and share that expertise within product teams.
* Build product vision with Head of Product and Product Owners.
Technical evangelist and SME engaging with key customers to:
* Provide high-level technical consultation to key clients and partners.
* Assist the sales team in complex technical discussions with prospects.
* Assist in resolving complex technical issues for strategic customers.
* Provide guidance on best practices for product implementation and usage.
* Define product roadmap with Head of Product and Product Owners.
* Provide input on feature prioritisation and technical feasibility.
* Identify opportunities for product innovation and expansion collaborating with the research team.
Thought Leadership:
* Represent the company at industry events and conferences in order to advocate and sell Tyk’s product and market vision in the API space.
* Build relationships with industry influencers and decision-makers in order to build partnerships and mature our position in the wider API space.
Market Intelligence and product maturity:
* Assess competitors and market trends and map to Tyk in order to maintain a constant understanding of market maturity in order to influence and drive roadmap.
* Provide insights on market direction and customer needs to inform product strategy.
* Work with marketing to develop technical messaging and positioning.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
* Substantial experience in customer-facing roles for API or SaaS software, including a background in product and software development.
* Deep expertise in areas such as API design, microservices architecture, cloud computing, security, and scalability.
* An understanding of the broader landscape of digital transformation and how API management fits into modern enterprise and cloud architectures across verticals like Finance and E-Commerce.
* A combination of strong technical knowledge with excellent communication skills, business value thinking and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
