We are looking to recruit a Senior Planner on a 6 month contract, working from home with occasional visits to client site in Harwell, Oxford .

Purpose of the Role
The Senior Planner is responsible for developing and managing project schedules and timelines for projects. Their primary role is to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to established specifications and standards. They are responsible for coordinating with various departments and stakeholders to gather project information, developing project schedules and timelines, and providing regular updates and reports on project progress. They may also be responsible for managing a team of planners and providing training and support as needed.
Responsibilities
4. Reviewing project plans and specifications to develop project schedules and timelines.
5. Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather project information and ensure accurate scheduling.
6. Developing detailed project schedules, including milestones, critical path analysis, and resource allocation.
7. Preparing and presenting project schedules and timelines to stakeholders, including clients, project managers, and senior executives.
8. Conducting regular progress reviews and reporting on project status and updates.
9. Identifying and managing project risks and issues that may impact project schedules and timelines.
10. Collaborating with other departments, such as procurement and project management, to ensure project timelines are aligned with budget and resource allocation.
11. Conducting regular schedule analysis and reporting to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
Experience
12. An understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
13. Sound knowledge of all engineering and commercial aspects of major civil and infrastructure projects.
14. Ability effectively monitor and analyse progress, identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
15. Ability to supervise planning teams and direct planning effort for a complex project.
16. Understanding of work milestone and EVM progress measurement systems.
17. Ability to conduct and develop Critical Path Analysis (CPS) narratives and risk / mitigation / evaluation exercises for analysis preparation.
18. Working knowledge of schedule management techniques to interrogate and proactively manage interdependencies.
19. Proven ability to assimilate project information from a variety of sources, understand the impact / implications of misalignments and issues and propose action.
20. Proven ability to collaborate with other teams and adjacent projects to achieve optimal time performance objectives.
