GSL Education is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a valued client for the position of Responsible Individual to oversee the establishment of a brand-new, 3-bedded children's home in Blackburn. This home will support young people aged 8-18 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and mental health needs. Initially, you will take on the role of Responsible Individual, with the opportunity to transition into the Registered Manager role once the home is fully operational.
About the Role:
As the Responsible Individual, you will be responsible for ensuring that the home meets all regulatory requirements and achieves a successful Ofsted registration. You will lead the setup of the home, ensuring that the highest standards of care are in place, and will work closely with external professionals and agencies. Once the home is established, you will transition into the Registered Manager position, leading the day-to-day management of the home and ensuring the ongoing care and well-being of the children.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the Responsible Individual during the setup phase, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and statutory requirements.
2. Lead the successful registration of the home with Ofsted.
3. Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of a skilled team of care professionals.
4. Create a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment for young people with EBD and mental health needs.
5. Collaborate with external agencies, commissioners, and professionals to ensure the best possible support and care for the children.
6. Ensure the home runs efficiently and all records, reports, and policies are maintained in accordance with legal and statutory guidelines.
7. Transition into the Registered Manager role, where you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high standards of care and successful Ofsted inspections.
Essential Criteria:
1. Previous leadership experience in a children's residential setting.
2. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
3. Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and experience in managing successful inspections.
4. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
5. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
