SUMMARY OF POST
You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons in construction - bricklaying.
Lecturer in Brickwork - Lesson Delivery & Student Engagement:
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons in bricklaying, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of the trade.
* Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles, ensuring students are actively engaged and can demonstrate their understanding.
Lecturer in Brickwork - Assessment & Feedback:
* Regularly assess students' work in line with awarding body standards.
* Provide constructive, written feedback that supports student development and helps them improve their skills and knowledge.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
Lecturer in Brickwork - Practical Demonstrations & Student Interaction:
* Provide clear, hands-on demonstrations of bricklaying techniques to reinforce theoretical learning.
* Lead Q&A sessions during practical work to ensure students fully understand the processes, materials, and safety practices involved.
* Encourage a collaborative learning environment where students can share experiences and learn from each other.
Lecturer in Brickwork - Health & Safety Enforcement:
* Enforce a strict three-point Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy to ensure students adhere to health and safety guidelines during practical lessons.
* Monitor students’ compliance with safety regulations, maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
* Promote safe working practices at all times, ensuring students understand the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
PERSON SPECIFICATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* A minimum of five years of industrial experience in brickwork, demonstrating a deep understanding of the trade.
* Possess an NVQ Level 2 or higher qualification in brickwork, showcasing your expertise in the field.
* A teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or Cert Ed, would be preferred, but not essential.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
* Proficiency in IT skills, enabling you to enhance the learning experience through the use of technology.
* Up to date DBS
* A minimum of two references
