TeacherActive are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to work in a specialist alternative provision in Nottingham.
Responsibilities:
1. Teaching Basic Skills in an SEND provision to pupils of varying abilities.
2. Supporting staff/children during lunch and break times.
3. Managing pupils' personalised learning based on their individual needs.
4. Delivering 1:1 or small group activities.
5. Collecting evidence of children’s work to support their assessment.
6. Providing physical management and care of pupils.
Requirements:
1. Experience working in a school setting and with SEND pupils is essential.
2. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential as attitude and personality are absolutely key.
3. Ability to teach functional skills in English & Maths.
4. Experience working with young people.
5. Highly organised with excellent communication skills.
6. Desire to work with, inspire and support children.
7. Interest in supporting young people with a variety of additional needs.
8. Experience supporting children with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
9. Understanding of behavioural management.
The setting supports young people in KS3 & 4 who have been permanently excluded or are on the verge of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools. The aim is to either reintegrate these young people back into mainstream schools/post 16 education/apprenticeships or training through personalised education plans.
