We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Trainee Teacher of Physical Education. This is a one-year training position starting on 27th August 2024. You must be committed to train as an active and innovative teacher and be passionate about PE. The course pathway leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
You will become part of a dynamic and well-equipped department that delivers BTEC Sport and Exercise Science alongside A-Level Physical Education. Additionally, the Sport Department offers a varied enrichment programme featuring team sports and recreational activities.
You will study for your teaching qualification one day per week. General Practice training will be delivered at St Charles Borromeo Teaching Hub and Subject training will also be delivered by the subject hub at St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College.
Alongside your training, you will work as a teacher on a reduced timetable four days per week in a well-resourced Sport department that provides an exciting environment in which to deliver your skills as a teacher. You will be allocated a mentor for your training year; this will be an experienced subject specialist and will have 1.5 hours of protected time per week to support your development.
This is a fixed-term role for one year (the length of time of your training course). The salary will be paid at Unqualified Teachers Pay Scale Point 1: £27,252, inclusive of Inner London Weighting.

The Borromeo Training Hub is a London Regional Hub for the ‘outstanding ITT provider’ Xavier Teach SouthEast, who have partnered with four Sixth Form Colleges across the London region to provide training for the development of confident and competent professionals, who will become outstanding teachers of tomorrow. Trainees are well prepared through first-rate placements, which ensure that they gain substantial practical experience, developing their evaluative and practical teaching skills effectively.
