Freelance Lecturers - Guitar
Expressions of Interest: Guitar Lecturer in Higher Education: BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance
Contractual Hours : Freelance, variable hours depending on subject area and student numbers.
BIMM University is looking for experienced lecturers as well as industry experts to work with us on a freelance basis.
We particularly encourage applications from people with disabilities and people from Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented in the creative industries and higher education.
There are opportunities for regular teaching from September 2024 as well as cover teaching/deputising and guest lecturing on an ad hoc basis. BIMM provides internal training and professional development for all lecturers, especially those new to teaching. If you already have a graduate or postgraduate qualification then this will be advantageous, but it’s not a barrier.
About the role
We are seeking experienced lecturers and industry experts to join a great team of music professionals in a vibrant and supportive working environment on a freelance basis at our Manchester Campus. Opportunities are available for regular teaching starting September 2024, as well as covering teaching/deputising and guest lecturing on an ad hoc basis. BIMM provides internal training and professional development for all lecturers, especially those new to teaching.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to our students, ensuring they acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the industry.
What You’ll do:
•Design and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in popular music performance
•Provide practical demonstrations and hands-on training to students.
•Contribute towards assessment and the marking of student work, providing constructive feedback
•Stay updated with industry trends and integrate these into the curriculum.
•Mentor and support students, fostering their professional growth.
•Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the course content.
What You’ll bring:
•A graduate or postgraduate qualification in a music related subject
•A graduate or postgraduate qualification in education is advantageous but not essential.
•Significant teaching experience (at the higher education level is preferred but not essential).
•Significant industry experience in music performance, bandleading and composition and arranging.
•Strong communication and organisational skills.
•A commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
•A flexible approach to work.
