Job Introduction BBC Radio Solent is the South's original local radio station, and the longest serving radio brand on the South coast. Serving a TSA of almost two million people across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, we reflect the lives of the counties’ residents in everything we do. We’re looking for a journalist to lead our social media coverage and join our talented team in our Southampton studios; someone who will drive our social profile, create content fitting our social media strategy and help reach new audiences. Main Responsibilities As a social media journalist, you will: Oversee our social media accounts, being the voice and personality for those who engage with us on social media. Have experience of both implementing social media strategies and how to reach new audiences with engaging content. Create posts and content, working with programme teams and creating video content, images, and visualising radio moments. Make your own bespoke stories, creating content that will travel across other platforms like TV and online. Work closely with programme producers to turn our best audio content into social and digital successes, ensuring all our best bits reach fresh eyes and ears. Use social media to reach out and form contacts with public groups and pages that consistently produce high-performing content. Apply your enthusiasm for social media trends and digital marketing and turn your ideas into creative engaging content. Thrive from working in a fast paced, creative environment and will be eager to improve our reach, engagement and interaction, working to the requirements of BBC Local's social media strategy. Are you the right candidate? We’re looking for a highly motivated, creative thinker with the ability to produce high impact social media content. You’ll recognise the importance of combining visual appeal with great audio to build brand awareness and engagement. You’ll be experienced in making engaging digital content, have a passion for audio and love telling people’s stories. You’ll have a keen eye for design and detail, know what works with the audience and be experienced in using analytics to drive our future approach.
