The Role – What will I be doing? Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer, in this role you will liaise with fellow design engineers and production staff to manage designed products through the full manufacturing life cycle. You will be working with the Innovation team to take prototype designs through to production, supporting design for manufacture and creating manufacturing and make vs buy plans. Creating and maintaining SOP’s for product development and existing products. This will also include support for SMD Shanghai production. You will work in teams within engineering, supply chain, QHSE, stores and production on continuous improvement. The main objectives being: Improve product quality, assessing NCR’s and Infield issues. Lowering costs of bought out parts or assemblies by design improvement. Improving delivery times through efficiencies. Support delivering equipment that 'works out of the box'. You will be supporting the outsourcing of work with Suppliers, Procurement, Planning and QHSE team and the improvement of QHSE within operations. Alongside the above you will be developing and supporting production/apprentice training plans and solutions. You will also have the opportunity to support offsite testing or builds when required. What skills and qualifications do I need? You will need to be educated to a degree level in an engineering discipline. This can be either mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical/control systems. Proficient in AutoCAD is essential. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with strong experience in report writing. A high level of technical expertise and skill is required with experience in the design, set, modification, optimisation and monitoring of manufacturing processes. Strong experience in planning and working with technical teams, with the skills to create SOPs’ that cover the complete range of engineering disciplines. Offsite work experience is beneficial but not essential.
