A pupil referral unit in Workington, West Cumbria are seeking a qualified primary teacher to teach a small group of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils as soon as possible.
The school provides a specialist learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties ( SEMH ), and class sizes are small - with only 4 boys in this particular class.
Although pupils are aged 11-13, they are all predominantly working at an upper Key Stage 2 level. Therefore a primary teacher would be well suited for this role, in particular if experienced within upper Key Stage 2.
The role will involve teaching alongside a primary school style of teaching, with all subject/ curriculum areas delivered by the same teacher.
The school are ideally looking for a teacher with experience of supporting pupils in an SEN or PRU setting, and are able to support pupils who demonstrate challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate for this primary teacher role will demonstrate resilience and confidence when developing relationships with SEMH pupils.
The school require a teacher to start as soon as possible, on an ongoing, full-time basis until December 2024, with potential of permanent roles becoming available in 2025. Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.
The role will involve working school hours from 8.30 - 3.30pm, with rates of pay available from £150+ upwards per day, dependant upon experience.
