Onboarding Coordinator
Job description
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 8 months
Join our dynamic and vibrant Human Resources Team to provide an excellent onboarding experience for our new starters. You’ll join a service that is people-focused and plays a significant role in ensuring the council has a positive organisational culture that is diverse, equal, and creative.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 8 months working 37 hours Monday to Friday. You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs.
What you’ll be doing
In this fast-paced environment, no two days are the same. As one of the first contacts for our new employees, you’ll set the standard of customer service experience. You will provide advice, guidance, and support to candidates and other stakeholders such as recruitment managers and HR colleagues. You’ll coordinate, maintain, and update all new starter processes, systems, and HR information. This will include providing quality assurance on all onboarding documentation, ensuring all communication is accurate, professional, and in line with corporate branding while ensuring all candidates comply with processes, procedures, and employment law.
Additionally, you’ll liaise closely with the wider HR department, recruiting managers, and candidates to gain feedback on their experiences of the onboarding journey with visions to improve the service offering.
What you’ll need
With significant experience of undertaking pre-employment checks for a wide range of roles, you’ll have good knowledge of legislation governing multiple areas of work and understand the importance of DBS checks and the eligibility requirements surrounding these. You’ll also have experience of producing contracts of employment accurately and in a timely manner.
You’ll possess advanced written communication skills and the ability to use standard IT software packages such as Word and Excel, allowing you to produce and maintain a range of necessary documents. As someone with great interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to build collaborative working relationships with not only internal staff but, most importantly, the new starters, ensuring that their first impression of our Council is a good one.
What we can offer you
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and the option of flexible working. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
