Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist within Orthopaedics at Pilgrim Hospital (37.5 Hours a week)
We are looking for a Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join our Integrated Orthopaedic Therapy team at Pilgrim Hospital. You will assess and treat advanced and detailed assessments with patients presenting with diverse and complex conditions, providing a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a high standard of physiotherapy to patients within the Orthopaedic Team.
* To perform more advanced and detailed assessments with patients presenting with diverse and complex conditions, providing an individualised treatment programme.
* To hold own caseload working without direct supervision and act in a leadership role to the assistant staff in the area.
* Supervision to take the form of regular training and peer review.
* Carry out all work as an autonomous practitioner maintaining records as such.
* Supervision, education and assessment of the performance of Junior Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, and Physiotherapy students to a graduate level, liaising with universities as required.
* Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to senior staff.
* The post-holder will be expected to be part of the 7-day service and also work as part of a respiratory 7-day and be an active member of the evening respiratory on-call rota.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Physiotherapy
* Evidence of maintained CPD in a portfolio including attendance at relevant post-graduate courses
* Registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Basic management training
* Involvement in a special interest group
* Membership of the CSP
Experience
* 18 months experience and good theoretical and working knowledge of a broad range of conditions within the acute setting for band 6 role
* Student or assistant supervision, contributing to education
* Experience of working as part of a team/MDT
* Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
* Knowledge of the workings of the community service and intermediate care services
Specific requirements
* Special interest in development of acute respiratory, medical and elderly patients
* Flexibility & ability to work in a moderately physical & stressful environment
* Problem solving
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
Skills
* Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role
* Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise in a timely and effective manner
* Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written skills along with clear presentation skills
* Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team
* Ability to cope with working in a moderately physical and stressful environment with aggressive and emotional people
* Ability to lead a team.
