Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) with Team Teach or Equivalent De-Escalation Training

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team at a specialist Secondary SEND Referral Provision in Trafford, Manchester. This provision supports pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD), Complex Needs, Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and students with challenging and/or explosive behaviours.
As a SEND specialist TA, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your expertise in de-escalation techniques, such as Team Teach or equivalent training, will be crucial in ensuring that students can focus on their education and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEND.
2. Assist in the delivery of bespoke educational programmes tailored to individual needs and learning styles.
3. Help students engage with their learning and encourage positive behaviour.
4. Implement de-escalation techniques when needed to manage challenging or explosive behaviours.
5. Support the teacher in creating and maintaining a positive, nurturing classroom environment.
6. Develop strong, supportive relationships with students to build their confidence, self-esteem, and emotional wellbeing.
7. Liaise with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.
8. Contribute to the monitoring and assessment of pupil progress.
Requirements:
1. Experience working in a SEND or Special Educational Needs environment, ideally within a secondary setting.
2. A recognised de-escalation qualification, such as Team Teach or equivalent, is essential.
3. Strong knowledge of a range of SEND.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude.
6. The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
7. A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students.
Desirable:
1. A relevant qualification in SEND, education, or a related field.
2. Experience working with pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour or complex needs.
